"In this day and age of material secularism, it seems almost impossible to relate; much less seek the enlightenment to overcome the darkness of evil. Yet, such light is in reality very near to each and every one within us. Start with gratitude... count your blessings; and this will lead to kindness to others that may change their lives for the better. Seek the wisdom to discern the truth; and never allow the arrogance of money to invade your life."

Rosete’s daughter, Niña Magsaysay Rosete, the scholarship enables Filipino youth to continue their education on the collegiate level.  The scholarship was founded as a way to commemorate Ms. Rosete’s father, and to continue the values of education and improving the lives of others.

About AL Rosete

Atty. Al Pacis Rosete was born in Agno, Pangasinan, Philippines on June 26, 1945.  Shortly after his birth, his parents and older brother moved to the city of Manila.  As a child, he grew up in a household that cultivated a love of literature, sports, and especially, music.  Upon graduating from high school, he started out as a Chemistry major at the Ateneo de Manila University.  After his first year, he changed his major to English Literature, and eventually graduated with a law degree from San Beda College. Shortly after receiving a Juris Doctorate degree, Atty. Rosete passed the Philippine Bar Examination and became a third-generation lawyer in the Rosete family.

During his time in college and graduate school, his father, Atty. Felicisimo Rosete, fell gravely ill.  With great faith and perseverance, Atty. Al Rosete finished his education and passed the bar exam only a few weeks before his father’s death.  As a very young man, barely in his twenties, he took on the responsibility of helping his mother raise his three much younger siblings.  His academic excellence helped him secure a position at the prestigious global law firm, Baker McKenzie.  From these early personal challenges, as well as the demands of a competitive professional career, Atty. Rosete would form the strong faith and resilience that guided him throughout his life.

In 1976, Atty. Rosete married Mary Ann Pulido Magsaysay, and over the next twelve years they nurtured and built a family, resulting in a brood of six children.  It was during this time that Atty. Rosete established a successful private practice.  During his career, he has helped numerous clients with their personal and professional concerns.  He is remembered, not only for his professional achievements, but also for his engaging personality, humor, and generosity of spirit.  He often helped those that were less fortunate, offering legal counsel to friends and acquaintances in need.  Atty. Rosete had a prolific and active legal career until his last days.

Aside from the law, Atty. Rosete was known for his love of music.  He was always part of a band, often playing the guitar.  Through his last years, he regularly played in a cover band with musicians half his age - a testament to his undying youth. His love of music sought its highest audience when he played his guitar for the Lord in his favorite church, Mary the Queen in San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Atty. Rosete was also a devoted father and grandfather.  He is fondly remembered by his children and grandchildren, introducing them to his love of literature, music, food, and movies.  He was not only a generous provider, but also a friend and trusted advisor.  In his final years, he was a very active grandfather.  He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren, giving them the same love and care that he lavished on his own children.

Atty. Rosete passed away on May 21, 2019.  He is survived by his six children, and five grandchildren.  He will always be remembered for his honor, indelible character and uncompromising faith.
